BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12. The groundwork for a 200-megawatt solar power plant in the Eastern Zangezur "green" energy zone will be officially commenced in just a few hours, Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at the ministerial dialogue on "Scaling Investments to Triple Renewable Energy and Double Energy Efficiency", Trend reports.
“Azerbaijan is making significant strides in advancing its green energy zones located in Karabakh, Eastern Zangezur, and Nakhchivan. The country is capitalizing on its expertise in establishing robust electrical connections between diverse regions and consumption centers. With an ambitious goal of achieving a sixfold increase in global energy storage capacity to 1,500 gigawatts by 2030, Azerbaijan aims to modernize or expand over 80 million kilometers of electrical grids by 2040. These initiatives are pivotal for realizing the Global Commitment to Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency.
As part of its development priorities, Azerbaijan is positioning itself as a green growth leader and a key supplier of renewable electricity and green gases by 2030. To that end, the country is spearheading ambitious mega-projects to harness its renewable energy potential on both national and international fronts. In just a few hours, Azerbaijan, in collaboration with bp, will commence construction on a 200-megawatt solar power plant in the Eastern Zangezur Green Energy Zone, marking another significant step toward a sustainable energy future," the minister said.
