Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend S.Babayeva / A decision on sanctioning a project for the establishment of regional innovation zones in Azerbaijan may be made in the autumn, Ali Abbasov, the Azerbaijani Minister for Communications and Information Technology, said.
A set of proposals on the project was submitted to the Government and Parliament.
"The project on the establishment of regional innovation zones will enable Azerbaijan to become a leader country in the development of innovation and communication technology in the region," the minister added.
The project provides for the creation of technical parks for development of small and medium sized innovation entrepreneurships, establishment of regional basis on production and export of electronic equipment and software, turning the country into a transit data centre, training human resources for the information society, as well as the application of IT in other spheres.
