Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 February / Trend / In January 2008, communication services were rendered to organizations and the public in Azerbaijan in the sum of AZN 56.1mln, which is 40.3% more than in January 2007, the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan reported.
Over 72% of revenue was received from mobile communications, which increased by 61.6% in January.
The amount of communication services in the regions of Azerbaijan also increased - 21.8% in Guba-Khachmaz economic region, 42.8% in Shirvan, 37.3% in Sheki-Zagatala, 30.6% in Aran, 29% in Nakhchivan, 44.2% in Lankaran, 32.3% in Absheron and 20.2% in Ganja-Gazakh.
In 2007, employees engaged in the field of communications numbered 21,900, with their average monthly wage comprising AZN 295.9, which is 34.1% more than in the previous year. Wages in state-owned enterprises rose by 19.5% and in the private enterprises by 34.8%.
