Azerbaijan, Baku, 7 March / corr. Trend S. Babayeva/ The Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan has provided more than 900 families with telephones in February and January 2008, the Ministry said.
The number of the telephone numbers, that became operational during this period, totaled 960. All the numbers account for Aztelekom production association.
Aztelekom production association provides Baku and entire territory of the country (excluding Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic) with the international and trunk-line communication. Besides 54 telecommunication enterprises, Aztelekom unites Baku Trunk-line Center, and Cable Main Technical Center.
In 2006, the Ministry of Communication put some 132,488 numbers into operation.
According to the Government forecast, the number of telephone sets for every 100 people will rise by 19.9 by 2011, while the figure totals to 15 at present.
