Information and Communication Technologies Standardization Technical Committee adopted a draft Azerbaijani national standard that was developed on the basis of international information security standard ISO/IEC 15408-2008, Azerbaijan Communications and Information Technology Ministry said on Feb. 26.
"Taking into account the feedback and suggestions, the draft was unanimously adopted through a vote. Then it was decided to submit the draft to the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents for state registration," the office said.
Under the plan, in 2009 the Technical Committee will develop draft Azerbaijani national standards based on international information security standards and IT-terminology and will provide for state registration of the drafts.
State standard AZS 324-2008 (ISO/IEC 27002-2005), titled "Information Technology - Security Techniques - Practical Rules of Information Security Management", entered into force in January.
Information and Communication Technologies Standardization Technical Committee was established on the basis of a joint decree issued by the Communications Ministry and the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents in summer 2008. Deputy Communications and Information Technologies Minister Elmir Valizade is Chairman of the Technical Committee.
The main purpose of the Technical Committee is to introduce national ICT standards relevant to international and regional requirements, to develop necessary regulatory instruments, to improve the efficiency of their use, to partake in international and interstate standardization activities.
