Improvement of public information resources is one of the key means of combating corruption, said the head of human resources and legal department of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan, Bakhtiyar Mammadov told Trend .
According to him, the best tool in combating corruption is transparency. "Electronic government services, which are envisaged in the state program "Electronic Azerbaijan", is one of the measures to ensure transparency. Today, there is a strategy and action plan to combat corruption, as well as issues of practical implementation emanating from this strategy. Expanding use of information technologies, along with the improvement of legislation will create favorable conditions for the entire population of the Republic, Mammadov said.
Last Wednesday, the Ministry held a meeting in connection with the implementation of plan for 2007-2011 to realize national strategy to increase transparency and combat corruption, approved by Decree of President of Azerbaijan on July 28, 2007. The meeting focused on the issues of offenses related to corruption, ethical management, etc.
