The Azerbaijani postal operator "Azerpoct" LLC appealed to the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers to abolish customs duties on postal sendings, the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry's Postal Department Head Novruz Mammadov Novruz Mammadov told Trend.

He said the appeal also indicates the need to increase the upper limit of the imposition of customs duties on goods from $200 to one thousand dollars. This will greatly increase e-commerce level.

"Today, ordinary citizens during border crossings can easily pass their goods worth about one thousand dollars through customs posts without paying customs duties. Regarding to the postal sendings here the situation is different, in this regard, we asked the Government to eliminate the restrictions. This in turn will significantly increase the number of postal sendings" Mammadov said.
