Uzbektelecom to transfer 62 percent of net profit to pay dividends for 2010

The annual general meeting of the Uzbek national operator Uzbektelecom's shareholders decided to transfer 61.7 percent of the total amount, received during last year's net profit, to pay dividends as of 2010, the company's management said.

The net profit of JSC "Uzbektelecom" increased by 1.8 times up 5.3 billion soums by late 2010 in accordance with the audited balance sheet approved by the general meeting of shareholders compared to 2009.

According to the decision of the shareholders, the dividends per common share of par value worth 1,000 soums will hit 93.93 soums, each preferred share - 250 soums. As of 2009, the dividends on Uzbektelecom's shares amounted to 43.45 soums on ordinary and 250 soums - on preferred shares.

"Uzbektelecom" increased assets by 24.6 percent - up to 7.78.07 billion soums, including current assets - by 17.2 percent up to 6.60.2 billion soums in 2010.

In 2010, the total capacity of 2.041 automatic telephone exchange of Uzbektelecom totaled 2.053 million numbers. At the same time the share of digital telephone exchanges increased from 88.8 percent up to 93.7 percent, or up to 1,924 million numbers. The length of the fiber-optic communication lines in local networks was more than 1.700 kilometers.

Uzbektelekom's authorized capital, formed from the assets of 19 branches, two subsidiaries and shares in eight joint ventures, is $32 billion 694.633 million soums. It is divided into 31 million 579.649 pieces of ordinary shares and 1 million 114.984 of pieces of preferred shares of 1,000 soums each.

The company owns 94 percent of shares, the labor collective - 5,8 percent, other shareholders - 0,2 percent.

The official exchange rate is 1.708.92 soums per $ 1.
