Closer links between India and Turkmenistan took place when a delegation of the Indian Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies led by State Minister Sachin Pilot met members of the Turkmenistan government at the Turkmen Academy of Sciences in Ashgabat, reports the television channel Altin Asir.
Discussions covered Turkmen and Indian cooperation and the delegations went on to attend the Turkmen State University opening ceremony in Ashgabat and visit the Turkmen-Indian IT Centre. The education centre had been part of the memorandum framework between the two governments originally signed in Ashgabat in February 2010. Its main objective is to prepare highly skilled and world-class specialists in the IT field, particularly computer programming.
Mr. Pilot said: '"Turkmenistan and India have common historical and cultural roots since the
beginning of time and also an inviolable tradition of sincere friendship, mutual understanding and trust".
He went on to say the bilateral partnership now enters a qualitatively new level and special emphasis is to be made on cooperation in the field of modern information technology, where India has had considerable success and is ready to actively cooperate and exchange experiences.
