Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 5

By Huseyn Veliyev - Trend:

Azerbaijani payment system GoldenPay will introduce non-cash payments in small business sector and in retail, the Chairman of the company's Board of Directors Naina Mehdiyeva told Trend on Oct. 5.

According to Mehdiyeva, this is included in the strategy developed by the company for 2019.

"While there are no specifics about what technology will be used for cashless payments. This can be either using bank cards, NFC or other types of mobile payments. Any of these technologies can be used as a payment method. Everything will depend on the requirements of the market and the demand. So far we are considering the legal and consumer side of the project in order to develop this market segment. This segment is one of the most interesting for us. Presently, this niche is empty," Mehdiyeva said.

There are many distribution companies in the market that carry goods to shops and are forced to collect cash, she added.

"We are interested in these processes being proceeded with the use of cashless settlement. And not necessarily online, but using for example an application specially designed for this purpose. Presently, this is needed in Azerbaijan and we are working on it. There are a number of large holdings, with which we are now at the stage of signing an agreement on cooperation in this area. The introduction of cashless payments in retail is included in our strategy for 2019," Mehdiyeva said.
