Portmanat, an Azerbaijani payment system, has completed test payments using QR codes, the company told Trend.

The company stated that at present, the system's integration with a bank is underway, after which the service will be offered to users.

"Making payments via QR codes will be possible through the Portmanat mobile application. This function is already built-in in the test version of the software. At the initial stage, the new payment method will be available in one of the Baku shops until the end of the year," the company stated.

For making payments via a QR code, the company said, two options are being considered - using a dynamic or static QR code.

"The method of payment using a static QR code provides for payment by scanning a code printed at the checkout - the buyer only has to bring the phone camera onto the QR code and the payment is made after the buyer inputs the amount."

"Unlike a static QR code, a dynamic one is generated each time with a payment amount. The code is also scanned at the checkout. In this case, the buyer does not need to enter the amount, since it is automatically deducted from the client's card integrated in the application or from the Portmanat account. We plan to initially launch a static payment method, and then switch to a dynamic one,” the company stated.
