Surfshark, a virtual private network service provider, has conducted research on internet accessibility in various countries, Trend reports referring to Surfshark's data.
As of 2020, Azerbaijan ranked third in the world in terms of internet accessibility. Israel and Canada ranked first and second in this category of the rating, respectively.
The indicators in 85 countries, the population of which is 81 percent of the population of the entire planet, were taken into account. Moreover, the level of accessibility of mobile and broadband internet was determined by its cost and the hourly average income of citizens of the country.
In accordance with the research, Azerbaijan ranks second after Israel in terms of mobile internet. According to Surfshark, the situation with broadband internet in Azerbaijan is slightly worse (54th place). Nevertheless, Azerbaijan was in the top three in terms of the sum of the two indicators.
Moreover, Azerbaijan ranks 51st in terms of the quality, speed and stability of internet (48th place in terms of quality of mobile internet and 71st place - broadband internet). Singapore, Sweden and the Netherlands hold the first three places.
Azerbaijan ranked 56th while the top three were taken by Singapore, the UK and the US in the e-government rating, in which the activity of governing bodies online and the willingness to use artificial intelligence technologies were taken into account.
Taking into account all the above-mentioned criteria, Azerbaijan ranked 40th in the final rating "Quality of digital life - 2020". The first three positions were held by Denmark, Sweden and Canada.
