BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 14. Kazakhstan aims to launch 5G networks in Nur-Sultan, Almaty, and Shymkent cities by the end of 2022, the country's Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry said, Trend reports citing Kazakh media.

The ministry has developed a strategy for the 5G implementation regarding allocation of the radio frequency spectrum (RFS) on a territorial basis. In addition, the agency prepared frequencies in the range of 3.6–3.9 GHz with the possible band distribution of 100 MHz and determined the terms for 5G technology implementation in Kazakhstan.

According to the ministry, the following activities have been carried out by telecom operators:

- Kazakhtelecom JSC launched a pilot 5G network in Nur-Sultan on the territory of the Astana Hub International Technopark of IT Startups. The base station location has been determined in Shymkent, and test trials of 5G technology are at the stage of technical deployment;

- Mobile Telecom-Service LLP opened a pilot 5G network in three locations in Almaty city;

- Kcell JSC launched test trials of 5G technology in Almaty city near the Arbat;

- Kar-Tel LLP commenced test trials of 5G technology in Almaty city around NARXOZ University and the Alatau Grand business center.

"The launch of 5G networks in Kazakhstan's Nur-Sultan, Almaty, and Shymkent cities is scheduled by the end of 2022, whereas in the country's regional centers – by 2023-2025," the ministry added.
