Azerbaijani Communications Ministry Provides over 35,000 Families with Telephones
Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Babayeva / Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry provided additional some 35,000 families with telephones in January-June.
The total number of the telephone numbers that were put in exploitation in the aforementioned period made up 35,422 ( 112,286 in 2006), with 9,712 of them provided by Baktelecom Production Association, the rest 25,710 by Aztelecom.
In 2006, the Ministry of Communications put into exploitation 280,594 telephone numbers, what is by 116,409 numbers more than in 2005.
Aztelecom production association provides for international and long-distance calls all over Azerbaijan, except Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Aztelecom includes 54 telecommunication enterprises, Baku Long-Distanced Telephone Junction, Main Cable Technical Junction and Repair-Construction Department.
Baktelecom production association provides state enterprises and management bodies, departments, enterprises, and organizations, as well as foreign juridical persons, in Baku with all telephone and radio services. Baktelecom includes 9 telecommunication enterprises, a department on construction and repair of communication sets, and Azerrabitelayihe design and survey unit.
