Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan expand cooperation in tourism

The project on joint Silk way visa between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan aimed at attraction of foreign tourists to both countries was approved by other CIS countries, Trend reports with reference to Kazakh media.

This project was presented within the framework of first tourism fair of CIS countries in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Tourism representatives from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are participating in the fair.

“The participants of the fair took into consideration the work of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in implementation of the Silk way visa project. Currently both countries are developing organizational and technical issues of new project. Kazakhstan plans to include Azerbaijan and Turkey in the initiative,” the report said.

Furthermore, during the fair, the development of Kazakh tourism was also highlighted. Reportedly, the traffic of tourists has almost doubled in the country.

The idea of Asian variant of Shengen visa was first proposed by Dariga Nazarbayeva in 2018, then the head of Kazakhstan’s Committee on Foreign Relations.
