BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 14. The number of Azerbaijani citizens who visited the countries of Central Asia amounted to 37,849 people from January through June 2023, which is 31.79 percent higher than in the same period of 2022 (28,720), Trend reports.
According to the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan, 23,868 Azerbaijani citizens visited Kazakhstan (an increase of 35.57 percent over the year), Turkmenistan - 7,846 (a decrease of 12.06 percent over the year), Uzbekistan - 5,692 (an increase of 3.08 times over the year), Tajikistan - 245 (an increase of 5.83 times over the year), Kyrgyzstan - 198 (a decrease of 35.29 percent over the year).
In general, 304,835 Azerbaijani tourists visited the countries of Central Asia from 2017 through 2022 (Kazakhstan - 173,222, Turkmenistan - 109,176, Uzbekistan - 20,142, Kyrgyzstan 2,097, Tajikistan - 198).
In addition, the number of Azerbaijani citizens who visited foreign countries was 1.5 million, which is more than 50 percent higher than in 2021 (974,446) in 2022, and the number of Azerbaijani citizens who visited Central Asian countries was 64,916, which is 86.98 percent more than in 2021 (34,718).
