Passenger transportation volumes plummet in Kazakhstan in 1H2020

A total of 535.9 million passengers were transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in June 2020, which is 74 percent less than in June 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, the volume of passengers transported in 1H2020 amounted to 6.4 billion people, which is 43.4 percent less year-on-year compared to 11.4 billion in 1H2019.

Thus, the majority of the passengers were transported in Kazakhstan’s Almaty city. The number of passengers transported in the region amounted to 111.1 million people in June and 1.4 billion tons in 1H2020, which is 75.3 percent and 45.1 percent less than during the same period last year, respectively.

Almaty city is followed by Karaganda region with 77.3 million people transported in June 2020 (increase of 61.8 percent compared to June 2019). The volume of passengers transported in Karaganda region in 1H2020 amounted to 748.7 million people, which compared to 1.1 billion in 1H2019, indicates a 37.3 percent decrease.

Pavlodar region takes third place country-wide by the passengers transported in June 2020 (53.1 million people, down by 52.6 percent). The volume of passengers transported in Pavlodar region in 1H2020 amounted to 339.5 million, which is 34.7 percent less than in 1H2019 (611.8 million people).

The least passengers volume was transported in Mangystau region. The transported passengers volume stood at 1.5 million tons in June 2020, which is 81.6 percent less than in June 2019. The volume of passengers transported in 1H2020 was 23.2 million, which is 46.8 percent less year-on-year.
