In September 2020, the Director of the Aviation Department of the Transport and Communications Ministry of Belarus, Artem Sikorsky, and Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan, Jasurbek Choriev, discussed the resumption of regular flights Minsk-Tashkent-Minsk.

As a result of the talks, an agreement was reached on the resumption of regular flights of Minsk-Tashkent-Minsk by the national air carriers of the two countries - Uzbekistan Airways and Belavia (Belarusian Airlines).

Earlier it was also reported that there was an increase in passenger traffic between Uzbekistan and Belarus in 2020 despite the COVID-19 pandemic, which indicates the demand for air travel in this direction.

“Cooperation between countries in transport sector not only remained at the same level but also successfully expanded despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the results of work for 2020, almost all aspects showed stable growth or retained positions similar to 2019. Mutual trade in transport services between the two countries increased by almost 80 percent compared to 2019,” the message said.
