Passenger transportation indicators down in Kazakhstan

A total of 413.3 million passengers were transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in Feb. 2021, which is 77.3 percent less than in Feb. 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, the volume of passengers transported over two months of 2021 amounted to 796.7 million people, which is 78.3 percent less year-on-year compared to 3.6 billion over the same period of last year.

Thus, the majority of the passengers were transported to Kazakhstan’s Almaty city. The number of passengers transported in the city amounted to 116.2 million people in February and 228.1 million people over two months of 2021, which is 71.5 percent and 71.8 percent less than during the same period last year, respectively.

Almaty city is followed by the East Kazakhstan region with 35.6 million people transported in Feb. 2021 (a decrease of 75.9 percent compared to Feb. 2020). The number of passengers transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 70 million people, which compared to 297.7 million during the same period last year, indicates a 76.5 percent decrease.

Kostanay region takes third place country-wide by the passengers transported in Feb. 2021 (35.3 million people, down by 75.4 percent). The number of passengers transported in the region over the period from Jan. through Feb. 2021 amounted to 70.4 million, which is 75.9 percent less than during the same period last year (291.7 million people).

The least passenger volume was transported in the Mangystau region. The transported passenger volume stood at 1.8 million passengers in Feb. 2021, which is 72.6 percent less than in Feb. 2020. The volume of passengers transported over two months of 2021 was 3.4 million, which is 75.9 percent less year-on-year.
