Kazakhstan’s revenue from the transportation of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage via railway transportation amounted to 240.3 billion tenge ($555.1 million) over three months of 2021, which is 5.9 percent more than during the same period of 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.
Revenues from the transportation of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage via railway in Mar. 2021 amounted to 84.7 billion tenge ($195.6 million), which is a 1-percent increase in comparison to the same month of 2020.
The volume of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage transported via railway during the reporting period amounted to 98.3 million tons, climbing by 1.5 percent compared to the same period of last year (34.06 million tons in Mar. 2021, down by 0.9 percent year-on-year).
Cargo turnover amounted to 68.1 billion ton-kilometers decreasing by 2.9 percent in comparison to last year (24.1 billion in Mar. 2021, a decrease of 5.1 percent).
In turn, Kazakhstan’s revenue from passenger transportation amounted to 11.6 billion tenge ($27.01 million) over three months of 2021, which is a 45.4 percent slump in comparison to last year. March’s revenue from passenger transportation was 4.9 billion tenge ($11.3 million), which is 12.8 percent less than in Mar. 2020.
The number of transported passengers amounted to 3.1 million people, which is a 34.8 percent decline compared to the same period of last year (1.1 million passengers in Mar. 2021, down by 7.9 percent).
The passenger turnover amounted to 2.4 billion passenger kilometers (pkm) which compared to the same period of last year is a decrease of 32.8 percent. March’s passenger turnover was 920.4 million pkm (2.8 percent decrease year-on-year).
