Baku International Sea Trade Port expands co-op with Dutch companies

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 18

Baku International Sea Trade Port plans to expand cooperation with Dutch companies in the field of cargo transportation, Director General of the port Taleh Ziyadov said.

Ziyadov made the remarks during a meeting with Ambassador of the Netherlands to Azerbaijan Pauline Eizema, Trend reports on June 18.

“An intermodal terminal is planned to be built in the port to ensure the more efficient transshipment of goods from Europe to China,” the director-general of the port said.

"The implementation of this project will allow expanding cooperation with logistics companies operating in the Netherlands," Ziyadov said.

The director-general reminded that an agreement on close cooperation and expansion of cargo transportation from Europe to Central Asia and China was signed between the Baku International Sea Trade Port and the Dutch Cabooter Group.

“We signed a memorandum of understanding with the Dutch Fontis and Gilde universities of applied sciences on March 5, 2021,” Ziyadov said.

“In accordance with the memorandum, employees of the Baku International Sea Trade Port, representatives of companies in the field of logistics of Azerbaijan and people wishing to work in the field of transport, trade and logistics will be involved in a four-month training program in the Netherlands," Ziyadov said.
