Azerbaijan reveals data on cargo shipment via local ports in 7M2021

The ports of Azerbaijan handled over 5.18 million tons of cargo from January through July 2021, which is 0.42 percent less compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing the report of the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan.

According to the committee, the volume of international cargo shipment in transit by the ports amounted to 4.93 million tons, or 95.2 percent of the total cargo, which is a 0.5 percent decline over the year.

As of early August, there were 136,500 tons of cargo in the ports of Azerbaijan.

Mainly the ports of Azerbaijan transship goods following the routes Turkey-Central Asia-Turkey, the countries of the Black Sea and Europe-Central Asia, as well as transit Chinese goods.

In 2020, the volume of cargo transshipment through the seaports of Azerbaijan amounted to 8.78 million tons, of which 8.18 million tons, or 93.2 percent, accounted for international transit cargo, and 7.8 percent - for local cargo.
