Azerbaijan's value of sea cargo traffic continues to grow

The value of sea cargo transportation carried out by Azerbaijan from January through August 2021 has grown, Trend reports citing a report from the State Customs Committee (SCC).

According to the committee, this indicator amounted to $443.8 million, up by $103.5 million or 30 percent on annual basis.

In the first eight months of this year, over 485.3 million tons of cargo have been transported by sea, which is 106.1 million tons or almost 17.9 percent less compared to the same period of 2020, the committee said.

The volume of export cargo transportation by sea decreased by 2.64 percent and amounted to 5.3 million tons, and the value stood at $91.1 million (a growth of $27.2 million or 42.6 percent), the SCC report said.

At the same time, the volume of imports by sea amounted to 289 million tons, and the value - over $352.7 million (an increase of $76.2 million or 27.6 percent), added the committee.

As earlier reported, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover from January through August 2021 made up nearly $20.2 billion. Of these, exports accounted for $12.9 billion, and imports - $7.3 billion.
