Azerbaijan's ADY Container reveals growth of container traffic for 1Q2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 13. ADY Container LLC, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, increased cargo traffic by 55 percent in the first quarter of 2022, the subsidiary told Trend.

From January through March 2022, the company's container transportation exceeded 18,000 TEU, while this figure rose above 12,000 TEU in the first quarter of 2021.

"In the reporting period, the share of transit goods accounted for nearly 12,000 containers whilst in the same period of 2021 – for over 5,000. Transit transport in the first three months of 2022 grew by 26 percent compared to the same period in 2021," said the company.

Cargo movement along the Baku-Turkmenbashi-Baku route increased by 23 percent, and along the Baku-Aktau-Baku route – by 45 percent.

The LLC also noted that freight transport by the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway rose by 77 percent over the year.

"Container shipping along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) from January through March 2022 grew by 28 percent compared to the first quarter of 2021," ADY Container said.
