BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 13. Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov spoke about the solutions to the logistical problems that arose as a result of the geopolitical situation in Ukraine, Trend reports with reference to the government.

"The emerging geopolitical tensions affect global supply chains, give rise to many problems, including rising prices for raw materials and goods, changes in transport corridors in the region,” PM said.

“In order to solve problematic issues that arise in the economy and business, the Government has created an operational headquarters for anti-crisis measures, its meetings addressed the transport of goods to foreign countries,” Smailov noted.

As for the diversification of transport logistics in Kazakhstan, in order to ensure uninterrupted transportation of goods to Europe, work is underway to increase the volume of traffic along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR)," Smailov noted.

According to calculations, the capacity of seaports connecting Kazakhstan’s Aktau and Kuryk, Azerbaijan’s Baku, Georgia’s Batumi and Poti will allow passing in the direction of about 7 million tons of cargo.

"Negotiations were also held between the transport departments of Kazakhstan and Latvia on the transportation of Kazakh cargo stuck in Russia to Europe through the ports of Latvia’s Riga and Ventspils. At the same time, the Latvian side said that in the future its ports would receive Kazakh transit cargo, the throughput of which is at a sufficiently high level," Smailov added.
