BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 11. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iran’s Imam Khomeini port in Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran), increased by 3.8 percent in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year (April 21 through May 21, 2023), compared to the same month in the last year, Trend reports.
More than 3.96 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port in the 2nd month. Of this, 2.33 million tons were loaded and 1.63 million tons were unloaded.
Also, 2.03 million tons of cargo were exported and approximately 1.13 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port over the reporting month.
At the same time, 101,000 tons of cargo were loaded in the port for transit.
Within the 2nd month, about 198,000 tons of cargo were loaded and approximately 334,000 tons were unloaded in the port for cabotage.
Furthermore, 1,610 tons of cargo were loaded and 1,950 tons were unloaded for other purposes.
Some 1.07 million tons of essential products, about 219,000 tons of metal products, 457,000 tons of construction and mining materials, 297 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts, and 601,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port during the 2nd month of the current Iranian year.
Moreover, approximately 82,500 tons of leather, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, 89,400 tons of container products, and approximately 1.44 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.
In total, 11.7 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 7.01 million tons were loaded and 4.66 million tons were unloaded. This is a decrease of 3.4 percent compared to the same month in the last Iranian year.
