Cargo movements at Iran’s Imam Khomeini port increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 5. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iran’s Imam Khomeini port in Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) increased by 5 percent during the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, an official of Khuzestan Province Ports and Maritime Department Davoud Chegeni said, Trend reports.

"In total, approximately 17.6 million tons of oil and non-oil products were loaded and unloaded at Iran’s Imam Khomeini port in 5 months. Of that, 9.94 million tons were non-oil products, and 7.63 million tons were crude oil and related products, Chegeni noted.

The official also added that 926,000 tons of cargo transited through Imam Khomeini port within the mentioned period. This is 19 percent more than the same period last year.

According to him, in five months, 9 million tons of goods were exported through Imam Khomeini port, representing a 6 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Iran's Imam Khomeini port is located on an area of 11,000 hectares in the northwest of the Persian Gulf. The port has the capacity to receive 60 million tons of cargo per year.
