Iran's private sector upgrading Imam Khomeini port’s equipment with billions of dollars

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 17. The private sector has spent $16 million on loading and unloading supplies at Iran's Imam Khomeini Port in Khuzestan province since March 21, 2023, Director General of Ports and Maritime Department of Khuzestan Province Aboutalib Geraylu said, Trend reports.

According to him, the private sector bought 400 units of equipment to make loading and unloading faster at Imam Khomeini Port.

Geraylu added that the port created 1,000 jobs by buying the new supplies.

In total, approximately 17.6 million tons of oil and non-oil products were loaded and unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port of Khuzestan Province, located in the southwest of Iran during the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023). This is an increase of 5 percent compared to the same period last year.
