BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 19. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iran’s Imam Khomeini port in Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) decreased by 2 percent in the 7th month of the current Iranian year (September 23 through October 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
As was reflected data from Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), around 3.72 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port in the 7th month. Of that, 2.16 million tons were loaded and 1.56 million tons were unloaded.
In addition, about 1.65 million tons of cargo were exported and about 1.44 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port over the reporting month.
At the same time, 470,000 tons of cargo were loaded at the port for transit.
Over the course of seventh month, 37,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 121,000 tons were unloaded at the port for cabotage, as well as 2,490 tons were loaded and 2,760 tons were unloaded for transshipment.
Also,135 tons of cargo were loaded and 1,000 tons were unloaded for other purposes.
Nearly 1.23 million tons of essential products, 14,200 tons of metal products, 387,000 tons of construction and mining materials, 237 tons of equipment, vehicles, spare parts and 286,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port during the 7th month of the current Iranian year.
Moreover, 1,790 tons of leather, clothing, fibers, paper, and wood materials, 82,900 tons of container products, and 1.72 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.
In total, about 12.8 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 5th month of the current Iranian year. Of that, 7.6 million tons were loaded and 5.21 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 10 percent compared to the same month last year.
