BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 23. The Chinese city of Xi'an has started sending cargo block trains (container trains) on the route of the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route - TITR) to Europe every week, the executive director of Beijing Trans Eurasia International Logistics Co., Wanxu Dong, wrote on social networks, Trend reports.

“Block trains along the Middle Corridor from China's Xi'an to Europe run regularly, every week. The entire route takes 30 days, and the costs are comparable to traditional routes for shipping goods from Xi'an to Europe. This is an acceptable, optimal solution for us,” he wrote on his account.

“Beijing Trans Eurasia International Logistics Co.” provides transportation of Chinese cargo from Xi'an, Wuhan, and Xiamen.

Xi'an ranks first in China in handling and dispatching container trains.

The port for dry cargo is located in the same city. The Kazakhstani terminal with the capacity to handle 66,500 twenty-foot containers (TEU) per year has also started operating on the territory of this port.

The first test shipments of container trains from China via TITR began in the first quarter of 2024, with regular output in July.

TITR has been in operation for 10 years; during this time, it has transported a total of about 10 million tons of cargo (including 171,000 TEU), including 2.7 million tons in 2023.

The target for this year is more than 4 million tons.
