Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev called on Saturday for the drawing up of a single document outlining the basic principles and direction of Eurasian integration, RIA Novosti reported.

He said the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) should pay more attention to developing economic and environmental policy.

"The Bonn Declaration and the OSCE Maastricht Strategy need to be adapted," he said at an informal meeting of OSCE foreign ministers in the Kazakh city of Almaty. "I am a strong supporter of a deep, progressive integration processes on the Eurasian subcontinent and think it necessary to develop a single document reflecting the main principles and direction of Eurasian integration."

Nazarnayev said the document should take into account post-crisis realities and world development trends.

"The integration of Europe and Asia will have a positive impact on economic development and social well-being, not only on the Eurasian subcontinent, but in the long run, in the whole post-crisis world as well," he said.

The informal OSCE ministerial meeting is being attended by foreign ministers and high-ranking officials from the group's 56 member states, 12 partner states and a number of international organizations.

Kazakhstan is holding the OSCE chairmanship for 2010.
