Kazakhstan Harvests 6.02M Tons Grain To Sep. 5

Kazakhstan harvested 6.02 million metric tons of grain to Sep. 5 on 4.204 million hectares, or 26% of the total area to be harvested, with the average yield of 1.43 tons a hectare, the agriculture ministry reported Tuesday, Dow Jones reported.
On the same date last year harvest was reported at 8.384 million tons on 10.165 million hectares with the average yield of 0.82 tons a hectare.
The ministry said Aug. 17 Kazakhstan's grain harvest this year was likely to be 18.9 million tons and grain export in the 2011-2012 marketing year 10 million tons.
In 2010, while experiencing drought conditions, Kazakhstan's grain harvest was 12.2 million tons.
The country exported in the 2010-2011 marketing year 5.9 million tons of grain.
