The volume of flood water will be 2-3 times above normal in western Kazakhstan, in particular in the Atyrau region, Minister of Emergency Situations Vladimir Bozhko said at a governmental conference.
There are prerequisites for the occurrence of floods in some regions this year.
He also informed that the Kazakh hydrometeorology service projected the increase in water content of the Syr Darya, Arys, Shagan, Greater and Lesser Uzen, Tobol. Bojko said that the total cost of the state hit 50 billion tenge (over $337 million) to eliminate accidents in 2008-2012.
