Astana to host international anti-nuclear conference

Astana will host the International Conference ‘From the prohibition of nuclear tests to a world free of nuclear weapons’, on August 29, the press service of the Majilis (lower chamber) of Kazakhstan said.

Astana will host the International Conference 'From the prohibition of nuclear tests to a world free of nuclear weapons', on August 29, the press service of the Majilis (lower chamber) of Kazakhstan said.

'The conference is timed to coincide with International Day against Nuclear Tests declared by the United Nations', a statement said. More than 80 foreign delegations have confirmed they will attend.

The conference will be part of the Astana Declaration for a nuclear free world implementation and will be held during the 21th anniversary of the closing of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site.
The conference programme will include the issues of global security, nuclear terrorism, the use of harsh sanctions against the aggressors and the development of peaceful nuclear energy.
