Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Kazykhanov met in Beijing with his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi, the correspondent of Trend reported from the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse where the next meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to take place.

"I think we and my counterparts will hold a decent preparation for the upcoming summit of heads of SCO member states, which will be held in Beijing," - Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said, opening a bilateral meeting with Kazakh Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov.

The head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry also said that during the meeting he's ready to discuss prospects of cooperation between China and Kazakhstan.

"Our relations are developing very rapidly," - he said.

In response, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Kazykhanov also expressed confidence that the forthcoming ministerial meeting will be fruitful for the preparation of the upcoming summit of heads of SCO member states.

The summit will be held in June this year in Beijing.

"It's very important that the topic of your presidency in the SCO called the year of good-neighborhood and friendship. This motto will help strengthen relations between all the countries - members of the organization" - said Kazykhanov.

He also mentioned that the dynamics of cooperation between Kazakhstan and China is on a high level.

"Evidence of this is that the trade turnover between our countries last year totaled 25 billion U.S. dollars. This is a success. But there is still a lot of common tasks to be undertaken," - he stressed.
