ICAO to help bring Kazakhstan airline off EU blacklist

Kazakh state-owned enterprise Kazaeronavigatsia and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has signed an agreement on information management services, the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan said on Tuesday.

'This document will allow Kazakhstan to expedite the removal of the Kazakh airline from the European Union blacklist where they were included in 2009 by an ICAO audit', the report said.

Under the agreement the state will be provided with information help in the creation of an organisational structure, training of technical skills and in detailed forming of certification and supervision.

In accordance with the terms of the agreement, the ICAO Technical Cooperation Bureau will provide technical assistance to the aeronautical authorities of Kazakhstan in the field of safety, including the hiring of ICAO technical experts.
