Kazakhstan, Canada discuss aspects of bilateral cooperation

Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister Erlan Idrisov held a meeting with his Canadian counterpart John Baird on Nov.13 during his official visit to Astana, a message from Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry said.
This is the first official visit of the Canadian Foreign Minister to Kazakhstan since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1992.
According to the message, a large spectrum of issues of bilateral political, trade and economic cooperation which is the "locomotive" of Kazakh-Canadian relations was discussed during the meeting.
Investment partnership became one of the important topics of the talks. The parties agreed to deepen cooperation in the future in this sphere, the message said.
In addition, the foreign ministers of the two countries also discussed the issues of cooperation in the sphere of agriculture and agro-industrial complex that are important directions in bilateral relations. The Canadian agricultural technology and equipment is used in Kazakhstan by request. Canada Kazakhstan is the sixth largest market for exports from agricultural instituations and grain equipment.
Along with the above mentioned issues, the aspects of cooperation in the sphere of non-proliferation of nuclear weapon and education, as well as facilitation of visa regime for Kazakh citizens were discussed, the message said.
