The U.S. embassy in Kazakhstan may be headed by George Krol, the embassy said on May 6.

The embassy confirmed appointing George Krol for the post of the U.S Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary ambassador to Kazakhstan, adding that the date of the appointment and his arrival are unknown.

Earlier, it was reported in September 2013 that U.S. Ambassador Kenneth Fairfax completed the mission in Kazakhstan in connection with his transferring to the post of Deputy Executive Director of the International Energy Agency. It was also stressed that former ambassador to Kazakhstan John Ordway will arrive in October and will serve as an interim charge d'affaires until a new ambassador is appointed.

At present, Krol serves as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to Uzbekistan.
