Astana, Kazakhstan, Sept. 25
By Daniar Mukhtarov - Trend:
Kazakhstan's ex-defense minister, member of the parliament's upper house known as the Senate, Mukhtar Altynbayev says that the country's civil and military aviation security system is not without glitches.
Previously, a Su-27 multipurpose fighter jet crashed Sept. 23 in Kazakhstan when it was conducting training flights. Both pilots were killed in the accident.
"This is a very serious tragedy, and we lost trained pilots, and expensive equipment," Altynbayev told reporters on the sidelines of a plenary session of the Senate.
"The most important thing is the recurrence of our disasters. This is a serious concern. I want to say that there are glitches in the security system of both civil and military aviation," he said.
He said it is necessary to take measures at a high level to prevent such disasters, as well as find the black box and find out the cause for the death of the aircraft's crew members.
Altynbayev, a former pilot himself, said that this cannot go on any longer, and the issue needs to be dealt with.
