Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 21
By Elena Kosolapova - Trend:
Work is underway to realize a project for construction of a grain terminal at the border of Kazakhstan and China, the Kazakh Agriculture Ministry told Trend Sept. 21.
The ministry said that in December 2014 the Kazakh national holding KazAgro signed a memorandum of cooperation with the China CAMC Engineering Co. Ltd. for construction of a grain terminal at the border of Kazakhstan and China.
"The Chinese side announced, as part of this memorandum, its intention to independently develop an action plan, a business plan or a feasibility study for the project," said the ministry. "Work is underway in this regard."
The ministry also told Trend that the Kazakh goods producers are working to increase exports to China and transit grain through Chinese territory to the countries in Southeast Asia.
China CAMC Engineering Co. Ltd., a large engineering company, is a part of the China National Machinery Industry Corporation (SINOMACH). The company's main activity includes the general contracting of international projects, making domestic and foreign investments, and trade. The national holding KazAgro realizes the state policy to develop Kazakhstan's agro-industrial complex by ensuring an effective management of investment assets of the companies that are a part of it.
