Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev appointed new heads (akims) to four regions of Kazakhstan, the presidential press service reported March 14.

Malik Murzalin, who earlier served as first deputy manager of affairs of the president, was appointed as the head of the Akmola Region. Murzalin replaced Sergei Kulagin on this position.

Former Head of the Prime Minister's Office Erlan Koshanov became the head of the Karaganda Region. He replaced Nurmukhambet Abdibekov.

Deputy Chairman and Head of the Secretariat of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan Eraly Tugzhanov was appointed as the head of the Mangistau Region. He replaced Alik Aidarbayev.

Kumar Aksakalov, who earlier served as deputy head of the Presidential Administration, became the head of the North-Kazakhstan Region.

Earlier the North-Kazakhstan Region was headed by Erik Sultanov.
