Trend:

The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has set the tariff quotas for the next year for certain types of agricultural goods imported to the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) from third countries, the press service of the EEC said in a statement.

The tariff quotas for the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation are set in the amounts stipulated by the tariff obligations of these countries in the World Trade Organization.

In 2019, the Republic of Kazakhstan will be able to import within the tariff quotas 21,000 tons of cattle meat and 140,000 tons of poultry meat. The volume of tariff quotas for the Russian Federation in 2019 will amount to 570,000 tons of cattle meat, 430,000 tons of pork, including pork trimmings, 364,000 tons of poultry meat, 15,000 tons of milk whey.

During the transition period, the Republic of Armenia applies lower rates of import customs duties than provided by the Common Customs Tariff (CCT) of the EAEU, so tariff quotas for raw meat and milk whey are not required in Armenia next year.

For the Republic of Belarus and the Kyrgyz Republic, tariff quotas are set taking into account the proposals of the Belarusian and Kyrgyz parties and within the difference between the projected volumes of consumption and production of the goods in question in Belarus and Kyrgyzstan, respectively.

In 2019, the volume of tariff quotas for the Republic of Belarus will amount to 20,000 tons of pork, 10,000 tons of domestic chicken, 900 tons of Turkey meat, for the Kyrgyz Republic – 7,000 tons of cattle meat, 3,500 tons of pork and 56,000 tons of poultry meat.

The tariff quotas are established in accordance with the Treaty on the EAEU and are necessary to fill the existing shortage of raw meat and milk whey in the Union states.

In respect of goods imported within the framework of tariff quotas, the Common Customs Tariff (CCT) of the EAEU establishes reduced rates of import customs duties. Their use will reduce the costs of entrepreneurs in the course of saturation of the domestic market of the EAEU member states with raw meat, meat products and milk whey in 2019.
