The Kazakh Institute of Electricity Development and Energy Saving JSC intends to attract loans from the World Bank (WB) in the amount of $100 million for the modernization of about 500 social facilities, Trend reports with reference to Kazinform news agency.
The implementation of this initiative will give an opportunity to provide 13,000 people with jobs during the construction period, to purchase the local goods in the amount of 24 billion tenge ($0.05 billion), which will ensure the development of domestic production.
Moreover, it is expected to receive annual savings of budgetary funds in the amount of three billion tenge ($0.07 billion) and tax receipts to the budget in the amount of 4.5 billion tenge ($0.01 billion).
The terms of financing from the WB will be discussed at the stage of preparation and justification of the project.
The participants of the register of domestic manufacturers and suppliers and suppliers of energy-saving materials, equipment and technologies will take part in the implementation of the scaling project.
The Institute, together with the WB, has been implementing the project "Improving Energy Efficiency in Kazakhstan" since 2015, the amount of grant for which is $21.7 million.
As part of this project, the work is underway to modernize 96 social facilities.
In accordance with the results of energy monitoring at the facilities, the average annual saving of energy resources at one facility is 30 percent for thermal energy and 15 percent for electricity.
For example, budget savings were achieved in the amount of 1 million tenge ($2,380) / year (19 percent) at school of Karaganda city.
The planned savings after the modernization of all 96 social facilities will amount to about 40 percent of energy resources.
