Kazakhstan eyes completing main reconstruction work of Kostanay airport by end of 2021

Main work on the reconstruction of the international airport in the city of Kostanay (Kazakhstan) is planned to be completed by the end of the year, governor of Kostanay region Archimedes Mukhambetov said during a visit to the facility, Trend reports with reference to Kazinform.

According to Mukhambetov, currently, work is underway to dismantle the ceiling, floor and wall in the terminal building.

“Extensions in the storage building have been dismantled to prepare the site for the construction of a new gallery, and work is underway to install the heating distribution system inside the building and prepare the foundation for the gallery. Next year it is planned to complete the improvement of the adjacent territory," Mukhambetov said.

It is reported that more than 911 million tenge ($2.1 million) will be allocated for the reconstruction of the airport.

"It was also instructed to government agencies to provide the necessary assistance in restoring the airport's activities. At the same time, it was instructed to the management of Kostanay International Airport to comply with all security measures and provide high-quality services for servicing passengers, receiving and dispatching aircraft," the governor said.
