USAID will continue its regional programs to diversify Kazakhstan's economy, modernize the energy sector, and strengthen water resource management, and bilateral programs to strengthen the rule of law, increase civic engagement, protect human rights, and improve health services, US Mission Kazakhstan Spokesperson told Trend.
The spokesperson said that USAID will partner with KazAID as it seeks to build a strong foundation for development programming in Central Asia and Afghanistan.
"In 2022, USAID will leverage the business community to engage the regional and national levels of government to review lessons learned from the first two years of the COVID-19 pandemic in Kazakhstan, with the aim to improve the country’s response to public health emergency outbreaks in the future. USAID also intends to launch a new activity to improve local governance by strengthening core capacities of sub-national government institutions and enhancing the role of citizens in local decision-making," the official said.
The official added that USAID will continue to help strengthen Kazakhstan’s renewable energy policies, improve energy efficiency, and increase renewable energy supply in 2022.
"USAID will also work with domestic and regional non-governmental organizations to support the sustainable management of cross-border water resources. In addition, in 2022, USAID will continue to partner with the Government of Kazakhstan to improve prevention, care and treatment services for tuberculosis, especially drug-resistant TB, HIV/AIDS, and COVID-19," the official added.
