BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 7. A new international airport terminal is under construction in Kazakhstan’s Almaty and it is planned to be completed in the summer of 2024, Trend reports with reference to airport.

President of Almaty International Airport Alp Er Tunga ERSOY at a meeting with reporters noted the need to preserve the historical heritage of the airport's VIP terminal building.

“The President noted the need to preserve the historical heritage of the VIP terminal building. This issue is being carefully considered. A total of $5 million were invested in the operating terminal building and in the development of airport infrastructure,” the press service of Almaty International Airport reported.

More than $1 million will be spent on the airport's security system. Construction work at the Almaty International Airport is already underway and started this year, the press service noted.

The airport will not suspend work during the construction period. The company is investing more than $200 million in the project for the new terminal. The construction of the new terminal of Almaty International Airport is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2024.
