BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 19. Oilseed producers in Kazakhstan are provided with state support measures to stimulate the development of the raw material base, Trend reports with reference to the press service Kazakh Agriculture Ministry.

Kazakh Agriculture Ministry introduced restrictions on the export of sunflower seeds and sunflower oil in September 2021 in order to meet the needs of local market, stabilize prices and load processing enterprises.

Production of refined sunflower oil increased by 10.2 percent in 2021 compared to 2020, the retail price of sunflower oil has stabilized since the introduction of restrictive measures.

Some 60 percent of the total volume of exports of sunflower oil is supplied to Uzbekistan every year, while there is an expansion of sunflower oil sales markets, in addition to traditional countries (Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, China), sunflower oil was shipped to the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Turkey.

State support measures are being taken for oilseeds producers (subsidizing the delivery of oilseeds for processing, the purchase of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, etc.) to stimulate the development of the raw material base, due to which sunflower seeds sowing area under increased by 200,000 hectares last year. This year it is planned to increase the sowing of sunflower by 20,700 hectares.
