BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 23. Mass harvest of more than one million tons of autumn onions will fully meet the needs of the domestic market until the next season in Kazakhstan, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture said, Trend reports via Kazinform.

“Stocks of potatoes and onions in the domestic market have been and remain sufficient. With a monthly demand of 25,000 tons, onion stocks as of August 20 amounted to 33,000 tons,” the press service noted.

The press service also noted a decrease in prices for onions in the field. In the Zhambyl region, the price of the field onions has decreased to 60 tenge ($1.3) from 80 tenge ($1.7), and in the Turkestan region - to 55 tenge ($1.2) from 60 tenge ($1.3) .

With a monthly demand of the domestic market for potatoes in the volume of 152,600 tons, the stocks made up 155,200 tons as of August 20.

“According to forecasts, the gross harvest of potatoes this year is expected to be at the level of average annual volumes - about four million tons, of which only organized farms will produce two million tons. These volumes will fully meet the needs of the domestic market,” added the press service.
