BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 1. Kazakhstan intends to produce around 90.5 million tons of oil in 2023, Bulat Aqchulaqov, Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, said, Trend reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

The minister added that oil exports are expected to amount to 71 million tons.

Aqchulaqov said that oil production results for 2022 reached the 84.2 million tons mark, while 64.3 million tons of oil was exported.

He cited the unforeseen circumstances as the key reason for somewhat modest 2022 results.

“A number of factors affected the extraction and export of hydrocarbons last year. These are unscheduled repairs at the Kashagan field, shutdowns of the Orenburg gas processing plant that affected the production of oil condensate at the Karachaganak field, as well as repairs at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium,” Aqchulaqov noted.

Earlier, the minister revealed the breakdown of oil production on the fields in 2022. Production at the Tengiz oilfield reached 29.2 million tons, and Karachaganak oil field production amounted to 11.3 million tons. Meanwhile, 12.7 million tons of oil was extracted from the Kashagan field during the previous year.
