BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 9. Kazakhstan’s “Gas Processing Company” LLP will supply 200 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to the West Kazakhstan region, Trend reports, citing the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

The ministry reveals that this became necessary due to the unplanned shutdown of the catalytic cracking unit at the Atyrau oil refinery. Currently, the LPG production output of refinery decreased from 500 tons to 190 tons. Despite the production decline, Atyrau refinery contributes 50 tons daily to the West Kazakhstan region.

The ministry also noted that negotiations with Tengizchevroil on the matter of supplying the region with 1,000 tons of LPG are currently ongoing.

The demand for February amounts to 3,200 tons. Meanwhile, 390 tons of LPG has already been supplied.

Earlier, KazMunayGas, the state oil and gas company of Kazakhstan, commenced the repair of the catalytic cracking unit at the Atyrau Oil Refinery. The company expects that the repairs will last until 18 February. The launch operations are expected to commence from February 18-22. The complete launch of the catalytic cracking unit is scheduled for February 23.
